The Armed Forces of Malta are already patrolling the seas around the project site to make sure that no illegal activity takes place and that the birds are not disturbed by noise or light pollution during the breeding season. They also recently apprehended a trawler working illegally in SPA waters. The Malta Maritime Authority have issued a Notice to Mariners a year earlier than anticipated in the project proposal in order to ensure that the Armed Forces are able to prevent activities at sea which may cause disturbance to the birds. View the Notice and the map.
